LEDAS Services This page briefly
summarises the on-line services available at the LEDAS web site. To go to an item,
click on the relevant link in the menu at left. -
The
ARchive Network
InterfacE (ARNIE)
is the online interface to the databases supported by LEDAS. This service allows
users to query most of the database tables held at LEDAS and also download any
associated data products.
The
Digitized Sky Survey
(DSS) provides access to digitised optical Schmidt plates forming the STScI Digitized
Sky Survey. The DSS is particularly useful for producing finding charts. The service
suppports both First and Second Generation DSS (DSS-I and DSS-II). Users are able
to tailor the size of the output image (from 17" to 1.5°) to suit their particular
needs. A batch request service is also available.
- BLASTA
(Browser for LArge ASTronomy Archives) allows users to search very large astrometric
databases quickly and efficiently, and output the results with a user-selected
sorting and format. At present, BLASTA supports 11 catalogues, including 2MASS,
GSC-2.2 and USNO-B1.0, with more to follow in the future.
- The FLIX upper limit server calculates XMM-Newton detection limits for arbitrary points in the sky, using images from the 2XMM Serendipitous Source Survey. FLIX estimates the actual flux at that position from the counts in a small circle and the estimated background level. FLIX produces a FITS binary table of all results, and HTML output for selected energy bands.
The
SIMBAD
bibliographic database can be searched by keyword or author name. The results
link to the Astrophysics Data Service abstract servers so the full text of papers
can be retrieved.
LEDAS
now provides a simple
search interface for the 4000+ astronomical catalogues held on
the ViZieR system at CDS Strasbourg.
- The LEDAS ftp site
contains useful software, and program and data documentation for archives and
services supported by LEDAS. It also forms the staging area for data products
requested from the online archives.
- LEDAS provides access to a number
of astronomical software packages for online distribution to UK/European users.
The packages currently available include analysis software packages for Ginga, and a mirror of the HEAsoft
and PIMMS
distributions at HEASARC.
- WebPIMMS
is the online version of PIMMS,
a useful and popular tool for simulating X-ray data from many X-ray astronomy
missions.
